Summary

Biography

2016: Had a sensational first season with the Golden Eagle indoor team and earned third-team All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Also received first-team All-West Region honors from the AVCA. Selected to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first team in vote by conference coaches. Led the Golden Eagles in kills with 274, blocks with 97 and points with 346.5. Finished fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.326), sixth in kills (3.26 per set) and third in blocks (1.15 per set). Was named AVCA National Player of the Week on Sept. 27 after recording 17 kills, six blocks and a .424 hitting percentage in a four-set win over Cal State San Bernardino and contributing nine kills and seven blocks with a .471 hitting percentage in a three-set win over Cal Poly Pomona. Also earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for that week.

2015: Joined the Cal State LA indoor program, but did not compete in any games and was a redshirt.

At Long Beach State: Was an All-Freshman Big West Conference selection after playing in every match for the 49ers in her first year with the program. Was fifth on the team in kills with 190 and second in blocks with 149. Had a career-high 12 kills against Pacific and had six double-digit kill matches. Had her first career double-double with 10 kills and 10 blocks against Central Michigan. Played in nine matches as a sophomore.

At Capistrano Valley High School: Earned four varsity letters in basketball and three in volleyball in high school. Named the No. 51 “Senior Ace” by Prep Volleyball after her senior season. Was the South Coast League MVP as a senior. Also earned first-team All-League honors and was a league MVP in basketball.

Personal: Daughter of Jaime Serna and Guillermina Arreola. Majoring in art. Enjoys art, movies, sports, eating and spreading world peace. Lists her first solo block against the University of Washington as her most exciting experience in sports. Notes that she is friendly.
