Summary

Biography

2012-13: Had a second sensational season with the Golden Eagles and concluded a record-breaking two-year career with the program. Appeared in and started all 27 games for the Golden Eagles. Played a total of 821 minutes. Averaged 8.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.6 blocks per game. Led the team in rebounds and blocked shots and was fourth in scoring. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Set a new program single-season record in blocks for a second straight year. Led the nation with 123 blocks, which easily surpassed his own program record of 75 set the season before. Had a tremendous game at Cal State San Bernardino (12-1-12) when he set new career highs for points (20) and rebounds (17) and had a season-high in blocks (8). Also had 18 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks in a 77-70 win over Humboldt State (1-25-13). Reached double figures in scoring 11 times and rebounding 11 times. Had six double-doubles. For his career, appeared in 54 games and started 35 times. Played a total of 1,457 minutes. Averaged 7.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Finished with 198 blocks (3.7 per game).

2011-12: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. Set a new program single-season record for blocked shots with 75, breaking a mark that had stood since 1984. Led the conference and was No. 10 in the nation in that statistical category. Appeared in 27 games and started the final eight games of the season for Cal State L.A.  Averaged 5.5 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 6.6 per game. Scored a season-high 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven blocked shots in a win over Chico State (2-17-12). Had a season-high 14 rebounds against Sonoma State (1-7-12) and had 13 rebounds and a season-high nine blocked shots in a win at San Francisco State (2-24-12). Reached double figures in scoring four times and double figures in rebounds five times.

At Riverside City College: Helped the team win a Orange Coast Conference championship and was named to Jerry Mullen’s Top-120 camp. Averaged 4.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.

At Cal State San Bernardino: Helped the Coyotes win a conference championship as a freshman. Led the team in blocks with 30. Appeared in 24 games and started four times.

At Los Osos High School: Earned first-team All-Baseline League honors and was selected to play in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin All-Star game. Team won a pair of league championships.

Personal: Son of Larry and Tracy Richard and Anthony and Teri Gooden. Majoring in communications. Enjoys hanging out with friends and family. Lists playing in the Jerry Mullen’s Top 120 Junior College Camp at Oral Roberts University as his most exciting experience in sports.
