Cal State LA Athletics

2012-13: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 22 games and started seven times. Played a total of 287 minutes. Averaged 1.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Matched a career-high with eight points and four rebounds in a 59-46 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills (12-15-12). Made his first career start and played 29 minutes at California Baptist (11-24-12). Had two points and a career-high five rebounds in the game. Played a career-high 33 minutes and had two points, four rebounds and two assists at Cal State San Bernardino (12-1-12). For his career, appeared in 36 games and started seven times. Played a total of 370 minutes. Averaged 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. 

2011-12: Contributed for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Appeared in 14 games and played a total of 83 minutes. Averaged 1.4 points and 0.7 rebounds per game. Scored a season-high eight points against American Sports University (11-12-11) in his Cal State L.A. debut. Also had six points and two assists in a win over Pacifica College (11-25-11). Had a season-high three rebounds at Holy Names (12-12-11).

At Fresno City College: Was named to the Central Valley Conference’s All-Defensive team as a sophomore. Averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 assists per game. Team was 55-10 in his two seasons with the program.|

At Lemoore High School: Was a two-time team Most Valuable Player and led the team in scoring all four seasons in high school. Earned All-League honors three times, All-Valley honors twice and was on two league championship teams. Competed in basketball and baseball. Was on the school’s Honor Roll three times.

Personal: Son of Jose and Bertha Alcala. Majoring in industrial technology. Enjoys golf. Lists playing in the state junior college Final Four with Fresno City College as his most exciting experience in sports.
