AMARILLO, Texas — Cal State LA's women's golf team completed the opening day of the WT Fall Invitational in third place after playing 36 holes Monday at La Paloma Golf Course.
The No. 20 Golden Eagles opened with an even-par 284 before recording an 8-over-par 292 in the second round. Their 8-over total of 576 leaves them six strokes behind tournament-leading Cal State Monterey Bay and four behind second-place UT Dallas. Cal State LA holds a one-shot advantage over host West Texas A&M entering Tuesday's final round.
Isabelle Olivas-Lowell led the Golden Eagles with an even-par total of 142, good for a tie for fifth in the individual standings. She began the tournament with a 2-under-par 69 and followed with a 73.
Sarah Amaya also earned a spot in the top 10, finishing the day tied for ninth at 2-over 144. Amaya posted consecutive rounds of 72.
Rilee Crosby is tied for 21st after matching rounds of 74 for a 6-over total of 148. Annie Betts is one stroke behind Crosby and tied for 24th at 7-over 149. Betts shared the team's best opening round with a 69 before carding an 80 in the afternoon.
Daniela Andrade provided one of Cal State LA's counting scores in the second round, improving by four strokes with a 2-over 73. She is tied for 27th at 8-over 150 following an opening-round 77.
West Texas A&M's Tasnim Smaili and UT Dallas' Anvesha Gulhane share the individual lead at 5-under 137. Olivas-Lowell enters the final round five strokes behind the co-leaders.
The 10-team tournament concludes Tuesday at the par-71, 5,801-yard La Paloma Golf Course.
