FRISCO, TEXAS -- Cal State LA's women's golf team was recognized as one of the elite NCAA Division II academic programs in the nation by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Thursday.

The WGCA announced the top 25 teams with the highest team grade point averages for NCAA Division I, II and III and the top 10 teams for NAIA.

The team GPA includes all of the team's student-athletes for the 2025-26 season.

Cal State LA, which enjoyed another outstanding on the course highlighted by a second-place finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and seven top-three finishes in 11 tournaments, earned a No. 24 ranking with a 3.68 grade point average.

Cal State LA was the only team from the California Collegiate Athletic Association to earn top-25 recognition and one of just three from the West Region, joining Saint Martin's from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and Hawaii-Hilo from the PacWest Conference.

For the Golden Eagles, team members Sarah Amaya, Daniela Andrade, Joshlyn Ayala, Rilee Crosby, Lisette Orellana and Talia Gutman contributed to the top-25 national academic finish.

This marks the second time in program history that the Golden Eagles have cracked the national top-25 for academics. In the 2023-24 season, Cal State LA finished in a tie for 20th in the nation.

Earlier this summer, Amaya, Andrade, Ayala, Crosby and Gutman earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors for having grade point averages of 3.50 or above and competing in 50 percent of the team's regular-scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
