LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's baseball team had four players earn All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors as the conference announced its 2026 All-CCAA team on Monday night.
Cesar Chavez,
Omar Gonzalez and
Jonathan Manuel all earned first-team honors, while
Ben Lee earned All-CCAA honorable mention. Chavez, Gonzalez and Manuel all earned All-CCAA honors for the first time, while Lee earned honorable mention for a second straight season.
Cal State LA had three first-team selections for the first time since 2019.
Cal State LA has reached the CCAA Tournament for a second straight season and will face Cal State San Bernardino in a first-round, single elimination game on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Fiscalini Field in San Bernardino.
Chavez is enjoying a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and earned all-conference recognition for the first time. He is hitting .357 with five home runs and 34 runs batted in. He also shares the team lead with 43 runs scored and leads the team with a .465 on-base percentage.
Gonzalez has been one of the top newcomers in the conference and has provided all-conference power to the lineup. He is second in the conference with 18 home runs and he also leads the team with 46 RBI. He also shares the team lead with 43 runs scored and is hitting .294 with an on-base percentage of .446. He leads the team with 34 walks.
Manuel has been a two-way contributor for the Golden Eagles and leads the team in pitching victories with seven and batting average at .381. He has five home runs and 20 RBI with 26 runs scored in 113 at bats at the plate and a 7-3 record on the mound with 51 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched.
Lee, meanwhile, has been extraordinarily valuable for the Golden Eagles behind the plate in his second year with the program. He is third on the team with a .324 batting average with five home runs and 34 RBI. He has also scored 28 runs. He has shown exceptional durability as he has started in 44 of the Golden Eagles' 50 games and appeared in 47 games in all as the team's catcher.
Cal State LA, as the No. 4 seed, will open the tournament against No. 5 Cal State San Bernardino on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m.
