LOS ANGELES -- Three members of Cal State LA's women's tennis team have been named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, selected by the district's College Sports Communicators, the organization announced this week.
Sarah Olmos earned the honor for a third time,
Hideka Takamura earned the honor for a second time and
Courtlyn Lam received the honor for the first time.
The awards honor student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program (formerly known as the CoSIDA Academic All-America program) recognizes women's tennis honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must be in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically to be eligible.
Olmos was a top member of Cal State LA's team for a fourth season as she completed an outstanding career with the Golden Eagles. She was a dependable and consistent player and was second on the team in dual match victories and tied for second in doubles wins. She is graduating with a degree in biology and has a grade point average of 3.72.
Takamura was also a key member of the team and played in each of the top three singles spots and primarily at the No. 1 doubles spot with Olmos. She is a junior majoring in accounting and carries a 4.0 grade point average.
Lam, who completed her outstanding four-year career for the Golden Eagles, was second on the team in dual match wins, including a memorable three-set victory at No. 5 singles as the last match off the court in a 4-3 win over Westmont on Senior Day on April 4. She is completing her Master's degree in healthcare management after completing her bachelor's degree in business administration and carries a grade point average of 3.71
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
