SAN DIEGO -- A short-handed Cal State LA women's tennis team fell to a talented Point Loma squad on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and all six singles contests in a 7-0 loss to the Sea Lions at the PLNU Tennis Courts. Cal State LA (1-7) lost the three completed singles contests in straight sets and retired in the final three.Point Loma improved to 9-2 on the season.
Sofia Pavlova and
Georgiana Parr fell at No. 1 doubles to Point Loma's Anna Pallencaoe and Emely Valencia Andrejeva, 6-1 and
Ainoho Salo and
Charlotte Downs fell at No. 3 doubles to Melissa Zirkle and Zoe Moley, 6-1.
Mane Sargsyan and
Macy Hinds were trailing Perla Conde Vendrell and Alina Kupfer at No. 2 doubles when the doubles point was clinched.
Only three singles matches were played to completion. Parr fell to Andrejeva, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles,
Ainoho Salo fell to Vendrell, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and
Charlotte Downs fell to Zirkle, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Cal State LA will return to action on Friday, March 27, against Dominican in Fresno.
