LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up short on Saturday against Concordia in a West Region matchup.
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and all six singles contest in a 7-0 loss to Concordia at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (1-9) was playing without top singles and doubles player
Maldini Simic, which shifted the lineup against Concordia (12-6).
The match of the day came at No. 1 singles where Cal State LA's Sofia Pavolva fell in a super-tiebreaker to Concordia's Sophie Rachor, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10). Pavlova fought back nicely after dropping the first set and was involved in a lengthy third-set super-tiebreaker for the second straight match.
Hideka Takamura fell to Bryn Johnson, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles,
Sarah Olmos fell to Alicia Da Re, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 3 singles,
Courtlyn Lam fell to Cheynne Houkes, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 4 singles,
Charlotte Downs fell to Pia Starnecker, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles and
Summer Roybal fell to Kristyna Dvorakova, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
Pavlova and Takamura fell to Rachor and Johnson, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles and Roybal and Downs fell to Starnecker and Dvorakova, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles. Olmos and Lam were locked in a battle at No. 2 doubles, 3-4, when the point was decided.
Cal State LA will return to action on Tuesday with a home match against MSU Denver at 9 a.m.
