LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team made its 2025 home opener a rousing success on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles captured the doubles points and won all six singles contests to post a 7-0 win over Jessup at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (1-1) won five of the six singles contests in straight sets over Jessup (0-1).
Cal State LA's No. 1 doubles team of
Sofia Pavlova and
Maldini Simic posted a 6-2 win over Briana Smith and Nia Macay to secure the doubles point after
Sarah Olmos and
Hideka Takamura claimed a 6-0 win over Angel Cody and Rylie Mahoney at No. 2 doubles.
Courtlyn Lam and
Lea Rolland had their match at No. 3 doubles halted at 3-3 after the point was clinched.
Simic had a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for the Golden Eagles, while Pavlova took a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Smith at No. 1 singles. Takamura was victorious at No. 3 singles over Cody, 6-2, 6-2 and Olmos improved to 2-0 in singles with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Sophia Serdichenko at No. 4 singles. Rolland had the match of the day at No. 5 singles, where she rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 win over Rylie Mahoney and Lam recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win over Olivia Gutierrez.
Cal State LA will return to action on Monday at Point Loma at 2 p.m.
