SAN DIEGO -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team found the going a bit tough on Monday against one of the PacWest Conference's top teams.
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and all six singles matches in a 7-0 loss to Point Loma at the PLNU Tennis Courts. Cal State LA (1-2) was coming off its first win of the season over Jessup on Saturday, while Point Loma (2-1) bounced back from a loss to Azusa Pacific on Saturday.
Cal State LA's No. 1 doubles team of
Sofia Pavlova and
Maldini Simic fell to Point Loma's Arianna Audelo and Quin Brady, 6-1 and the No. 3 doubles team of
Courtlyn Lam and
Lea Rolland fell to Alina Kupfer and Melissa Zirkle, 6-1.
The No. 2 doubles match between Cal State LA's
Sarah Olmos and
Hideka Takamura and Point Loma's Anna Pallencacoe and Emely Valencia went unfinished.
Pavola fell to Audelo, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Simic fell to Kupfer at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 7-5, Takamura fell to Antonia Barth, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 singles, Olmos fell to Brady, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4 singles, Rolland fell to Pallencacoe at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-3 and
Charlotte Downs fell to Valencia, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday at Concordia.
