FULLERTON -- Cal State LA's women's cross country had a solid showing Friday at the Biola Invitational.
Despite losing one of their top runners to an injury during the race, the Golden Eagles were able to finish 10th overall with a total of 285 points.
For the second straight meet,
Nelly Garnica was the team's No. 1 runner. She placed 55th out of a field of 135 runners with a time of 19:43.5 over a 5,000-meter course at Craig Regional Park.
Newcomer
Mikaela Holguin was next, placing 78th in 20:44.7,
Alejandra Estrada was 87th in 21:37.7,
Paula Romo was 90th in 21:47.8 and
Jasmine Trujillo was 107th in 22:44.6 to complete Cal State LA's top-five.
Dalia Romo was 109th in 22:59.0 and
Jaqueline Monroy was 131st in 26:55.3.
Norma Martinez, Cal State LA's No. 1 runner last year, was unable to finish the race due to injury.
The Master's won the race with 29 points with host Biola taking second with 38 points. San Diego was third with 91 points, Point Loma was fourth with 92 points and Vanguard took fifth with 148 points.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at The Master's Invitational.Â
