Box Score IRVINE -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up short Saturday in a battle of Golden Eagles at Concordia.
The Concordia Golden Eagles took the doubles point and all six singles matches to post a 7-0 victory over Cal State LA. The Golden Eagles (1-3) lost their third straight match since beating Westmont in their season opener, while Concordia (2-0) won its second straight contest.
Cal State LA narrowly dropped the doubles point.
Sarah Olmos and
Sakura Kurokawa dropped a 7-5 decision at No. 1 doubles and
Hideka Takamura and
Alexandra Hincu fell at No. 2 doubles, 6-2.
Courtlyn Lam and
Rochelle Suarez were in a tight battle at No. 3 doubles, trailing 5-4, when the doubles point was decided.
Olmos the closest call in singles, battling into a third set before falling, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Takamura fell at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, Kurokawa fell at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2, Hincu fell at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2, Suarez fell at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and
Lea Rolland fell at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Cal State LA will return to action on Sunday with a home match against Dominican at 11 a.m.
