RIVERSIDE -- Cal State LA's women's cross country team competed Saturday at UC Riverside's Highlander Invitational in its final preparation for next week's California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
The Golden Eagles finished 22nd as a team and had seven runners competing. San Diego State won the race with 41 points with UC San Diego, Arizona, The Master's and UC Irvine rounded out the top-five. Cal State San Bernardino finished 17th and Cal State San Marcos was 19th among other CCAA schools in the meet.
Nelly Garnica was the No. 1 runner for the Golden Eagles once again, finishing 130rd in 23:24.0 over a 6,000-meter course at UCR's Agg Course.
Mikaela Holguin was 183rd in 24:39.7,
Paula Romo was 218th in 26:05.8,
Alejandra Estrada was 226th in 26:36.9 and
Dalia Romo was 234th in 27:12.7 to round out the top five for the Golden Eagles.
Jasmine Trujillo was 238th in 27:39.8 and
Jaqueline Monroy was 255th in 32:25.4 for the Golden Eagles.
Cal State LA will return to action next Saturday at the CCAA Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno hosted by Sonoma State.
