IRVINE -- Cal State LA's men's and women's track and field teams competed this weekend at the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine and a thrilling victory in the men's 4x400 relay highlighted the two-day meet.
Cal State LA ran a season's best 3:11.46 to edge second-place Cal Poly Pomona's 3:11.47 in a photo finish at the end.

Jesus Nichol II,
Qwintin Workman and
Leon Tafirenyika were the victors and posted a time that is No. 14 in the nation and sets up an intriguing matchup at next week's California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
Cal State LA's 4x100 relay team finished fourth in 41.63.
Donavan Williams was fifth in the 400 hurdles in 55.24,Â
Darnelle Harris was seventh in the 100 with a time of 10.74Â and
Shawn Simms was 21st in 22.35.
For the women, Riyana Jackson had the best individual finish after placing seventh in the javelin with a mark of 108-5.
Isis Johnson was 14th in the long jump with a mark of 108-5, while
Eden Hahn was 23rd in the 100 with a time of 12.40 and 29th in the 200 with a mark of 25.80.
Cal State LA will return to action next week at the CCAA Championships at Cal State San Marcos.
