LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's track and field team has been picked to finish sixth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in a preseason coaches poll released by the conference on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles picked up 49 points in the poll.
Chico State received eight first-place votes and 98 points to earn the nod as the favorite. The Wildcats claimed the 2025 conference title by winning the final event (4x400 relay) of the championship meet.
Cal Poly Pomona was second in the poll with a pair of first-place voters and 92 points.Â
Cal State San Marcos was third with 77 points and Stanislaus State was fourth with 71 points.
Only four points separated the teams in the fifth through seven spots. Cal Poly Humboldt was fifth with 51 points, Cal State LA was sixth with 49 points and Cal State East Bay was seventh with 47 points.
Cal State Monterery Bay (28), San Francisco State (21) and UC Merced (15) round out the poll.
Cal State LA will continue its 2026 season on Saturday at the Rossi Relays.
