TWILIGHT OPEN RESULTS
LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA Hall of Famer Sherri Howard was inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Association Thursday to highlight a successful running of the Twilight Open.
Howard was presented with her Hall of Fame trophy by CCAA commissioner Mitch Cox during a ceremony prior to the start of the running events.Â
Howard competed for the Golden Eagles in 1984 and 1985 and won an NCAA Division I 400-meter title in 1985. She won an Olympic gold medal in the 4x400 relay in Los Angeles while setting the Olympic record in that event and also earned the silver medal in 1988.
Howard still remains in the top-10 in Cal State LA's record books in four events and still holds the school record in the 400 with a time of 50.40. She is No. 2 in the 100 with a time of 11.24, No. 2 in the 200 in 22.97 and No. 7 in the 800 in 2:09.6.
Shannon Turner won the 800 in 1:53.55 and
Jesus Nichol II won the 1,500 meters in 4:05.12 for the top individual performances for the Golden Eagles in the Twilight Open.
Donavan Williams was third in the 400 hurdles in 55.19.
Darnelle Harris was sixth in the 100 with a season's best time of 10.71.
Shawn Simms was third in the long jump and 11th in the 100 in 10.90.
For the women,
Destiny Moedano was third in the 800 with a time of 2:20.25,
Vanessa Monrreal was fourth in the 1,500 in 5:57.26 and
Eden Hahn placed ninth in the 200 in 25.70 and 14th in the 100 in 12.30.
Alyssa Johnson was fourth in the long jump, while
Isis Johnson was sixth in the long jump and 13th in the 400 in 62.15.
Cal State LA will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
