IRVINE -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team competed hard in a match Thursday against NCAA Division I UC Irvine.
The Golden Eagles dropped the doubles point and then all six singles contest in a 7-0 loss to the Anteaters. Cal State LA fell to 1-2 on the season, while UC Irvine stayed unbeaten at 3-0.
Cal State LA's No. 1 doubles team of
Sarah Olmos and Sakura Kurakawa fell to Carolyna Fowler and Emily Flower, 6-3, in a tight match and Hidecka Takamura and
Alexandra Hincu fell to Jenna Schlatter and Alyssia Fossorier at No. 2 doubles. The Golden Eagles' No. 3 team of
Courtlyn Lam and
Savaughna Mayo were in a tight match, trailing 5-3 when the point was clinched for UC Irvine.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. Kurakawa had the closest match at No. 2 singles, falling to Fossorier, 7-5, 7-5. Olmos lost to Schlatter at No. 1 singles, Hincu fell to Asha Gidwani at No. 3 singles, Takamura fell to Amanda Perez at Nol. 4 singles, Mayo moved up to play No. 5 singles and fell to Haily Huynh and
Lea Rolland made her Cal State LA debut at No. 6 singles and fell to Larissa Teramura.
Cal State LA will return to action next Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Azusa Pacific.
