Biography

2023-24: Had another strong season for the Golden Eagles and was one of the team’s top players once again in her final year with the program. Played through injuries through most of her final season. Had a 4-5 record in singles, all in dual matches. Was 3-5 at No. 3 singles and 1-0 at No. 4 singles. Had a 3-12 record in doubles, 2-7 at No. 2 doubles with Alexandra Hincu and 1-5 at No. 1 doubles with Sarah Olmos. Earned Academic All-District honors for a fourth straight year from the College Sports Communicators. Earned a 2023-24 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and was instrumental in Cal State LA earning an ITA All-Academic Team award. Earned a 2023-24 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. Also earned 2023-24 Academic All-PacWest Conference honors. For her career, had a 29-31 singles record, including a 24-24 mark in dual matches. Had a 21-39 record in doubles, including an 18-33 mark in dual matches.

2022-23: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and was one of the team’s best players. Had a 9-10 overall record in singles, including a 7-8 mark in dual matches. Led the team in singles wins. Had a 6-9 record in doubles, including a 5-8 mark in dual matches at No. 1 doubles. Recorded a 6-8 record at No. 2 singles and was 1-0 at No. 3 singles. Paired with Sarah Olmos as the team’s top doubles combo. Earned Academic All-District honors for a third straight year from the College Sports Communicators. Earned an ITA Scholar-Athlete Award for 2022-23 and was instrumental in Cal State LA earning an ITA All-Academic Team award. Earned a 2022-23 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. Also earned 2022-23 Academic All-PacWest Conference honors.

2021-22: Was one of Cal State LA’s top players once again. Had an 8-12 overall record in singles, including a 7-9 mark in dual matches. Went 2-0 at No. 2 singles, 3-5 at No. 3 singles and 2-4 at No. 4 singles. Had an overall record of 8-13 in doubles with two partners, including a 5-6 record with Noa Davico at No. 2 doubles. Was also 3-7 overall with Sarah Olmos, going 2-3 in tournaments and 1-4 in dual matches, including a 1-3 mark at No. 1 doubles. Earned Academic All-District honors from CoSIDA for a second straight season. Also earned an 2021-22 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award and was instrumental in Cal State LA earning an ITA All-Academic Team Award. Also earned 2021-22 Academic All-PacWest honors.

2020-21: Earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. Also earned an 2020-21 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award and was instrumental in Cal State LA earning an ITA All-Academic Team Award.

2019-20: Was having a sensational season in her first year with the program when it was halted. Led the team in singles wins with eight and was 8-4 overall. Had a 6-2 mark in dual matches, including a 5-2 mark at No. 4 singles. Was also 1-0 at No. 3 singles. Had a 4-5 record in doubles, including a 3-4 mark with Mariko Sagara. Combined with Sagara for a 3-2 record at No. 3 doubles. Also had a 1-1 mark in dual matches with Berta Acero. An outstanding student as well, received an 2019-20 ITA Scholar-Athlete Award and also earned 2019-20 Academic All-PacWest Conference honors.

At Shumeiyachiyo High School: Competed in Japan’s biggest high school tournament and finished in the top-16. Had an ITF ranking of 885. Competed in the World Super Junior Tennis Championships. Graduated as a valedictorian.

Personal: Daughter of Shinichi and Kayo Kurokawa. Majoring in accounting. Enjoys traveling, hiking, eating and doing jigsaw puzzles. Lists winning a tough match as a team as her most exciting experience in sports.
