BERKELEY -- Cal State LA's women's track and field team got some solid performances Saturday at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational hosted by Cal.
Dericka Braden had the team's best marks in a pair of running events to highlight the day, while
Javany McDermott placed well in a pair of events and
Pamela Grissom and
Jordyn Wyatt had seventh-place finishes to highlight the action in the field events.
Valexsia Droughn, a 2019 All-American, had the team's top effort in the 100 meters.
Braden was seventh in the 400 with a mark of 58.45 and 17th in the 200 in 26.44, while Droughn was 11th in the 100 in 12.86.
Grissom, meanwhile, was seventh in the shot put with a mark of 38-5.50 and Wyatt was seventh in the discus with a mark of 132-3.
McDermott was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 38-4 and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 17-4. Both marks are just off her season's bests.
Cal State LA will return to action with its final home meet of the season, the Twilight Open. Selected throwing events will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at Cerritos College, while the main portion of the meet will be at Cal State LA on Thursday, April 14.
