LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's track and field teams had some outstanding marks on Thursday at the Twilight Open, highlighted by a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying times.

Shingirai Hlanguyo set a provisional mark in the 100 while finishing second with a time of 10.54 and the 4x100 relay team of Marquel Angelo, Hlanguyo, Clifton Johnson and Darnelle Harris established a provisional mark while winning with a time of 40.93.

Hlanguyo also had a close call in the 200 with a time of 21.27, which is just above the qualifying standard of 21.26. Amazingly, Hlanguyo's time in the 100 was just below the standard of 10.55. The 4x100 relay team was under the standard of 41.06 and was nearly a second faster than its previous best this season of 41.80.

The Golden Eagles earned three other victories on Thursday. Leon Tafirenyika won the 400 in a time of 48.71, Jesus Nichol II won the 800 in 1:56.01 and the 4x400 relay team of Tafirenyika, Clifton Johnson, Hlanguyo and Nichol II won with a season's best time of 3:21.51.

Timothy Mates set new season's bests while finishing third in the 110 high hurdles in 14.79 and also in the 400 hurdles while finishing third in 54.86.

Myles Molette-Hughes also had a top finish while taking second in the triple jump with a mark of 45-9.

Cal State LA will return to action at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday and Saturday.
