Biography

2022: Competed in several events for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Finished sixth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in the triple jump with a season's best mark of 44-4.50. Had best marks of 11.73 in the 100, 23.97 in the 200, 19-1.50 in the long jump and 46-4.75 in the triple jump. For his career, had best marks of 11.68 in the 100, 23.97 in the 200, 20-3 in the long jump and 44-4.50 in the triple jump.

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2020: Was off to an outstanding start for the Golden Eagles before the season was halted. Earned CCAA “All-Star” recognition. Had best marks of 11.68 in the 100 meters and 46-4.75 in the triple jump. Posted a personal best in the triple jump and the mark was No. 4 in the CCAA, fourth in the West Region and No. 4 in the nation when the season was stopped.

2019: Was on the roster, but did not compete in any meets for the Golden Eagles and was a redshirt.

2018: Showed strong improvement in his second season with the program. Had the team’s best mark in the triple jump at 45-9.75 and finished eighth in the CCAA. Also had best marks of 11.83 in the 100 and 20-3 in the long jump.

2017: Had a solid first season with the Golden Eagles. Had best marks of 11.81 in the 100, 24.05 in the 200, 19-9.75 in the long jump and 43-7.75 in the triple jump. Had the team’s best mark in the triple jump and finished ninth in the CCAA in that event.

At Helix Charter High School: Was on the Honor Roll all four years in high school. Earned first-team All-League honors in the triple jump twice and also earned first-team All-League honors in the long jump. Won two Grossmont League championships in the triple jump and one in the long jump. Was named his team’s Most Outstanding Athlete two times. Competed in football, baseball and track and field.

Personal: Son of Leon Atkins and Dolores Bennett. Majoring in electrical engineering. Enjoys fishing, hiking, and photography.  Lists winning the Open Division CIF football championship as his most exciting experience in sports.
