REDLANDS -- Cal State LA's baseball team scored early and often, but the Golden Eagles still came up short against Redlands Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles scored seven runs in the first two innings and had 11 runs in the first four frames, but the Bulldogs tied the game with a run in the bottom of the eighth and won it, 13-12, in the bottom of the 10th at The Yard. Cal State LA (3-3) and Redlands (2-1) split the two-game series in Redlands.
Wilem Drozdowski had another sensational day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored and two runs batted in. He went 7-for-10 in the two games with eight runs scored and four RBI.
Hayden Luff also had a monster day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a pair of triples, three runs scored and four RBI.

Thomas Chavez and
Nick Atkins had two hits each.
Cal State LA had a total of 14 hits in the game, but only three after the third inning.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Salgado and
Drew Emmons. Cal State LA then added five more in the top of the second to make it 7-0. Drozdowski singled in a run, Luff had a three-run triple and
Will Picketts drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for the final run of the inning.
Redlands, though, responded with a six-run rally in the bottom of the second to close to within 7-6. Esteban Nakashima had a three-run double to highlight the inning for the Bulldogs.
Redlands then took the lead with a three-run third inning. Max Clark homered to tie the game and Jared Anderson doubled in two for the lead.
Cal State LA put up four runs in the fourth to regain the lead. Drozdowski tripled in a run to make it 9-8. Luff tripled in Drozdowski to give Cal State LA the lead and Salgado tripled to left to make it 11-9.
After Redlands scored twice in the sixth to tie it, the Golden Eagles regained the lead in the eighth on a double-play groundout by Picketts that drove in Drozdowski. Redlands then tied it in the bottom of the eighth and won it in the 10th by bunching together three singles and a walk.
Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday with the opener of a four-game series at Biola.
