RIVERSIDE -- Cal State LA's men's basketball team began its three-game exhibition season against NCAA Division I competition with a loss to UC Riverside Saturday.
The Golden Eagles, with a staggering 13 newcomers on their 15-player roster, dropped a 90-56 decision to UC Riverside on Saturday at the SRC Arena. Cal State LA had 11 players see action with 10 of them scoring.
Adrease Jackson led the Golden Eagles with 13 points and nine rebounds, while
Lyrik Shreiner had 10 points and
Alexander Sokol had eight points.
Zyon Pullin led five UC Riverside players in double figures with 17 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. The Highlanders finished third in the Big West Conference in 2020-21.
Shane Bell,
Trevor Thompson and
Ben Uloko scored six points each for the Golden Eagles.
Cal State LA will return to action with its second exhibition game, at Cal, on Monday.
