LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team turned in a winning performance Sunday against Stanislaus State.
The Golden Eagles won two of three extremely competitive double matches to earn the doubles points and took all six singles contests to record a 7-0 win over the Warriors at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (4-4) evened its record after the big home victory.
Chelsey Ruiz and
Berta Acero completed a 6-4 win over Stanislaus State's Ashley Isaac and Kayla Nguyen at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
Mariko Sagara and
Sakura Kurokawa prevailed at No. 3 doubles, 6-4,. while
Noa Davico and
Amanda Schneider dropped a tight 6-4 decision at No. 1 doubles.
Davico had the match of the day at No. 1 singles, rallying for a 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 win over Isaac in the final match of the contest.
Earlier, Schneider recorded a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, Ruiz posted a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, Kurokawa prevailed at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4, Acero won in straight sets at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Sagara posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday with a home match against Hope International.
