LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team finally got back on the courts and responded with an NCAA Division II West Region win over Dominican.
The Golden Eagles earned the doubles point and took five of the six singles matches to post a 6-1 win Saturday at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (4-4) was playing for the first time since Feb. 28 after having its last two matches canceled by rain.
Cal State LA got off to a good start in doubles.
Isabella Lopez and
Amanda Schneider won at No. 1 doubles over Taylor Lim and Nicole Bermudez, 6-0,
Luciana Di Laura and
Berta Acero Garcia won at No. 2 doubles over Kaitlyn Nguyen and Ofelia Lopez, 6-3, and
Chelsey Ruiz and
Mariko Sagara won at No. 3 doubles over Michelle Li and Alex Wartenberg, 6-3.
Schneider won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, over Lim, Di Laura won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Ofelia Lopez,
Isabella Lopez won at No. 4 singles over Li, 6-0, 6-0, Ruiz won at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1, over Nguyen and Sagara won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1, over Bermudez.
Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday with a home match against Angelo State.
