LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team finally enjoyed some sunny weather and a featured spot on a collegiate web cast.
The Golden Eagles were outstanding in doubles and went on to a 6-1 victory over NCAA Division I Nebraska-Omaha on Monday at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (5-5) earned the doubles point by winning all three doubles contests to set the tone for the match. The Golden Eagles then won five of the six singles matches to complete the win.
The match was web cast on RadioTennis.com by former Cal State LA assistant coach Ken Thomas, who launched RadioTennis.com in 2003 and has successfully web cast more than 4,000 tennis events.
The Golden Eagles got off to a quick start.
Amanda Schneider and
Isabella Lopez won at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, over Natalie Lorentz and Savanna Crowell.
Berta Acero Garcia and
Luciana Di Laura won at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, over Janelle Wilson and Emily Behling, and
Chelsey Ruiz and
Mariko Sagara won at No. 3 doubles, 6-0, over Marie Kapelevich and Clare Crockett.
Di Laura won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2, over Kapelevich, Lopez won at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 7-5, over Lorentz, Acero Garcia won at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Crowell, Ruiz won at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1, over Behring and Sagara won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Justine Linscott.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday with a match at Concordia-Irvine.
