Golden Eagles Pitch In For DH Sweep Of Warriors

LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's baseball team pitched in for a doubleheader sweep of a California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader against Stanislaus State.

Saxon Andross and Micah Hee allowed only three earned runs over 14 innings of work on Saturday and Miguel Garcia and Dylan Suppan provided two innings of scoreless relief to lead the Golden Eagles to 6-2 and 5-2 win over the Warriors at Reeder Field. Cal State LA (10-12, 9-9 CCAA) stretched its winning streak to six games by taking the first three games of this four-game series against Stanislaus State (13-10, 9-8 CCAA).

Andross started the opener for the Golden Eagles and gave up just five hits and one earned run over seven innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out five. Garcia got the next four outs while allowing two hits and Suppan got the final two outs, both via strikeout to end it.

Adam Gordon hit a two-run home run and drove in three runs for the Golden Eagles, while Tyler Odekirk went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and one run batted in. Noe Garcia was 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI.

Tyler Murphy went 5 1/3 innings for the Warriors and gave up seven hits and six runs. Brandon Scott blanked the Golden Eagles over the final 2 2/3 innings.

Cal State LA took a 2-0 lead in the second. Garcia lined a shot off of Murphy to drive in the first run. Murphy was shaken up, but was able to stay in the game for Stanislaus State. Odekirk picked up an infield single to drive in the second run.

Stanislaus State tied it at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the third. Brandon De La Guardia tripled and scored when Braeden Oki reached on an error. Oki eventually scored on a single by Alexis Paz.

After Odekirk was hit by a pitch to lead off the fifth, Gordon belted a two-run home run to right to break the tie. The Golden Eagles added two more runs in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Garcia and a sacrifice fly by Gordon.

The Warriors loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Suppan was able to strike out De La Guardia to end it.

The Golden Eagles took a 4-0 lead after two innings of the nightcap and never looked back. Nate Alam was 2-for-2 with two RBI and Anthony Moreno was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Jack Large hit a solo home run for the Warriors.

Hee tossed a seven-inning complete game, allowing five hits and two runs. He walked four and struck out seven in his longest outing of the season.

Jordan Myrow singled in Alam for the game's first run and the Golden Eagles added three in the second. Moreno singled and Garcia reached on an error to start the rally. Odekirk doubled in one run and Alam singled in two runs to make it 4-0.

The Warriors got a run back in the third on a double by De La Guardia and a single by Vinny Margiotta and then made it 4-2 in the fourth when Large slugged a solo home run to right-center. The Warriors loaded the bases with two out, but Hee got a ground ball to end the inning.

Hee was masterful over the final three innings, retiring nine of the last 10 batters he faced, including eight in a row.
