BAKERSFIELD-- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team competed Saturday against a pair of NCAA Division I programs.
The Golden Eagles dropped 5-0 decisions to Sacramento State and Cal State Bakersfield in Bakersfield. Cal State LA (2-8) lost all 10 matches in straight sets, but several of the contests featured close calls.
Karla Santos and
Alejandra Negron played at No. 1 pairs once again and competed admirably, falling by scores of 21-14, 21-16 to Sacramento State's Sarah Davis and Mikaela Wocett and 21-18, 21-11 to Cal State Bakersfield's Emily Hansen and Sydney Haynes.
Janessa Mata and
Daisia LaBrie played at No. 2 pairs and fell to Sacramento State's Kennedy Kurtz and Lana Brown, 21-8, 21-15 and to Cal State Bakerfield's Sarah Garrow and Desiree Sukhov, 21-10, 21-16.
Bailey Anderson and
Erianna Williams played at No. 3 pairs for Cal State LA and fell to Hannah Meadows and Ashtin Olin of Sacramento State, 21-14, 21-18 and to Cal State Bakersfield's Aleksandra Djordjevi and Briannah Mariner, 21-4, 21-12.
Michelle Boyd and
Victoria Duarte paired up at No. 4 and fell to Skyler Takeda and Macey Hayden of Sacramento State, 21-12, 21-18 and Boyd and
Caitlyn Bato played at No. 4 pairs against Cal State Bakersfield and fell to Emily Lopes and Mattison Degarmo, 21-18, 21-14.
Bato and
Daisy Crenshaw played at No. 5 pairs against Sacramento State and fell to Brigitte Murdock and Paige Swinney, 21-13, 21-6 and
Jeshmarie Suarez and Crenshaw fell at No. 5 pairs to Kristel Henderson and Ally Barber, 21-5, 21-16.
Cal State LA will return to action on April 19 at Cal State Northridge.
