NORTHRIDGE -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team competed against NCAA Division I Cal State Northridge on Tuesday without a couple key players.
The Golden Eagles, missing No. 2 singles player
Amanda Schneider and No. 3 singles player
Luciana Di Laura, fell to the Matadors, 6-1, in Northridge. Cal State LA (7-11) got a point from
Chelsey Ruiz at No. 4 singles. Ruiz defeated Emman Roenholt in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
The Golden Eagles juggled their doubles lineup and
Elizaveta Sokolova and
Isabella Lopez played at No. 1 doubles, where they fell to Monika Van de Vondel and Skyla Alcon, 6-2.
Mariko Sagara and Ruiz played well at No. 2 doubles and their match against Alicia Dinkelmeyer and Mari Taslagyan was unfinished.
Snezana Ivanovic and
Layna Schwartz fell at No. 3 doubles to Emman Roenholt and Arpe Bagumyan, 6-1. The Matadors took the doubles point per Division I scoring.
The Matadors wrapped up the match by winning five of the six singles contests, all in straight sets.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday against Division III power Pomona-Pitzer at 3 p.m.
