Box Score LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.'s women's soccer team had a heartbreaker in its first home game of the 2012 season.
After battling No. 15 UC San Diego on even terms for more than 109 minutes, the Golden Eagles were whistled for a foul with time winding down in the second overtime and the Tritons made them pay.
Jessica Wi took the free kick from about 21 yards out and lofted a perfectly placed shot that found the upper left corner of the net with three seconds left to give the Tritons a hard-fought 2-1 win over Cal State L.A. at Jesse Owens Stadium.
Cal State L.A. (2-2-1, 1-2 CCAA) was playing its third straight nationally-ranked opponent and the Golden Eagles, after beating Chico State, 4-1, have lost consecutive games to Cal State Stanislaus and UC San Diego.
UC San Diego (4-0, 3-0 CCAA) was playing its first road game of the season.
The tough result for the Golden Eagles continues a recent trend of good fortune for the visitors. UC San Diego has now won three straight in Los Angeles, while Cal State L.A. has won the last three games in La Jolla.
UC San Diego had an 11-8 edge in shots and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 halftime lead after scoring in the 20
th minute.
Megan Ollar did the honors, collecting a pass from
Adriana Valdez and tucking a shot into the low, right corner of the net for her first goal of the season.
UC San Diego was stymied by the Golden Eagle defense in the first half, but the Tritons started making some dangerous runs in the second half, most notably by Alexa Enlow, who set up the Tritons' first goal. Enlow made a strong run down the left sideline and sent a cross into the box, where Cassie Callahan headed it home to tie the game in the 54
th minute.
The Golden Eagles had their best chance of the second half when
Chanel Aguiar hit the crossbar with a shot in the 78

Tahne Apo had a good look in the final minute, but her shot was saved by Kelcie Brodsky.
The Golden Eagles had the only two shots of the first overtime and neither team was dangerous in the second overtime until the late Cal State L.A. foul and Wi's game-winner. @
Gabriella Batmani# made five saves for the Golden Eagles, while Brodsky made three saves for the Tritons.
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Sunday with a road game at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
