Three Golden Eagles Earn CSC Academic Honors

LOS ANGELES -- Three members of Cal State LA's women's soccer team were named to the 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District team,  the College Sports Communicators organization announced on Tuesday.

Peytyn Mize, Lindsey Metcalfe and Itzel Ramirez earned the recognition for Cal State LA.

The awards honor student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program (formerly known as the CoSIDA Academic All-America program) recognizes women's soccer honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and be a starter or important reserve with at least a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the team's games or started at least 66 percent of their institution's games.

Mize, a junior midfielder, appeared in all 18 games for the Golden Eagles with 10 starts. She played a total of 652 minutes. She is a criminal justice major and carries a 3.76 grade point average. She has excelled academically at Cal State LA and has earned an D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Award as well as California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic and Honor Roll recognition.

Metcalfe, a senior defender, was a key addition to the program in 2025 and started all 16 games she appeared in with a total of 1,309 minutes played. She was fourth on the team in minutes played. Metcalfe is a studio arts major and she previously earned CSC Academic All-District honors at the University of Hartford in 2024.

Ramirez, a junior midfielder, earned All-CCAA honorable mention after an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. She led the team with four goals and was second on the team with nine points. She appeared in all 18 games with 14 starts for Cal State LA and played a total of 887 minutes. She is a sociology major and carries a 3.64 grade point average.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.

Mize, Metcalfe and Ramirez helped Cal State LA to another winning season in 2025. The Golden Eagles finished with a 7-5-6 overall record.
