LOS ANGELES -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team kept its winning streak going with a victory over Sonoma State Sunday at the CSULA Tennis Complex.
The Golden Eagles won two of the three doubles contests and then took five of six singles matches to post a 7-2 victory over the Seawolves. Cal State L.A. (8-3), ranked 18th in the nation and fourth in the NCAA Division II West Region, picked up another important regional victory by beating Sonoma State (3-5).
Christie Lau and 
Larn McShane got things rolling with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles over Sonoma State's Megan White and Krista Cole. A key point was also picked up at No. 2 doubles, where 
Leora Hemmerich and 
Jill Sangria pulled out a 9-8 victory over Brooke McBride and Stephanie Hoffmire. Sonoma State picked up the point at No. 3 doubles, where Sheena Johnson and Lauren Ha picked up an 8-1 win over 
Tiffany Leung and 
Maria Xavier.
The Golden Eagles then posted victories in the top five singles positions to clinch the match. Lau won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, over White; McShane outlasted Cole, 6-3, 5-7, (10-6) at No. 2 singles; Hemmerich won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over McBride, Sangria won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3 and Leung rallied for a 0-6, 6-3, (10-6) win over Hoffmire.
Cal State L.A. will return to action with a home match on Tuesday against NAIA power Fresno Pacific.
