The match featured many peaks and valleys for the Golden Eagles. Cal State L.A. won the opening set, getting a kill by Mora and a block by Carter and Sylveyra to finish it off. The Golden Eagles then jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the second set, only to see Cal State Stanislaus storm back and even the match with a 25-21 set victory.

The Golden Eagles rallied from an early 9-4 deficit in the third set, taking a 15-14 advantage on an ace by Reyes and never looking back. A kill by Carter on a set by Shea Hamilton ended the frame.

The Warriors, though, extended the match to a fifth set after rolling to a 24-12 lead and eventually winning the set at 25-18.

The fifth set was even throughout. Early kills by Samantha Potter and Mora helped the Golden Eagles take a 3-1 lead and Cal State L.A. was never behind. A block by Carter and Mora gave the Golden Eagles an 11-10 lead and a kill by Iona Lofrano made it 12-10. After the Warriors tied it for a final time at 12-12, back-to-back kills by Mora made it 14-12. A kill by Fett kept the Warriors alive at 14-13, but the block by Mora and Silveyra ended the match.
