Samarah DaCoud Earns AVCA All-America Honors

LEXINGTON, KY -- Cal State LA's Samarah DaCoud has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association second-team All-America honors, the organization announced on Wednesday.

DaCoud was one of 14 players named to the second team and one of 42 players named to one of the first three teams. An additional 114 players earned honorable mention.

DaCoud becomes the most recent Cal State LA volleyball player to earn AVCA All-America honors and gives the Golden Eagles a fifth straight year with a first or second-team selection. She follows Emily Elliott, who earned first-team honors in 2023 and 2024 and a second-team award in 2022 and Karla Santos, who earned second-team honors in 2021. Santos also earned honorable mention in 2018 and 2019, giving Cal State LA All-America recognition in seven straight seasons and 10 of the past 11 seasons.

Iona Lofrano started the impressive streak with a third-team award in 2014 and a second-team award in 2015 and Alma Serna earned third-team honors in 2016.

DaCoud led the team and the California Collegiate Athletic Association in kills with 467 and she is 10th in the country in both kills per set (4.41 per set) and points per set (4.99). She also ranked fourth in the CCAA with a .275 hitting percentage.

Her 467 kills are No. 6 in program history under the current scoring system and her 4.41 kills per set is No. 4.

DaCoud was joined on the second team by Sophia Baugh of Point Loma, Veronika Eremeeva of Barry, Sydney Huck of Central Oklahoma, Shelby Kimm of St. Cloud State, Braya LaPlant of St. Cloud State, Gabi Moulton of West Florida, Devyn Oestreich of Western Washington, Paige Parlanti of the University of Indianapolis, Kaitlyn Parrott of Central Oklahoma, Tess Schrenger of Tampa, Taytum Stow of West Texas A&M, Ella Thompson of St. Cloud State and Karyna Werley of Metro State.

DaCoud was one of five members of the CCAA to earn AVCA recognition. Sarah Ybarra of Cal Poly Pomona earned first-team honors, while Kacey Caoili of Cal Poly Pomona, Aidan Goodrich of San Francisco State and Kacie Pedersen of Cal State San Bernardino received honorable mention.

Cal State LA had an 17-9 overall record and reached the CCAA Tournament for a conference-leading 10th straight time. The Golden Eagles also recorded their 28th consecutive winning season.
