Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Made a big impact for the Golden Eagles in the fall in her first season with the indoor team. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association second-team honors. Appeared in 28 matches and 99 sets. Had 239 kills and 272 points. Was second on the team in kills and second in points. Also had eight service aces, 194 digs and 41 blocks. Made her Cal State LA debut and had 12 kills and four digs in a four-set win over Biola on Sept. 5. Had a season-high 18 kills and 23.5 points in a five-set win over Cal State San Marcos on Sept. 27. Also had a season-high three aces in that match. Had a season-high 19 digs in NCAA Tournament match against San Francisco State on Dec. 5. Reached double figures in kills in 14 matches, including all four postseason games. Was a key player for Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring (2025) in her second year on the sand. Competed in all 12 matches and won three matches at No. 2 pairs with Jameson Sanders. Earned a 2024-25 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

2023: Competed for Cal State LA’s beach volleyball team in the spring (2024). Picked up a pair of wins at No. 4 pairs with Jameson Sanders. Competed in all 12 of the team’s matches.

At University of New Mexico: Was on the roster, but did not compete in any matches in 2023.

At Lakewood High School: Team won Moore League championships in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Started on the varsity team as a freshman in 2019 and earned All-League honors. Named a team captain in 2021 and earned first-team All-League honors. Earned the Captain’s Award and the school’s MVP award. Named to the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s Dream Team first-team. Was named a Scholar-Athlete and was on the Principal’s Honor Roll all four years in high school.

Personal: Daughter of Taion DaCoud and Christina Somera. Majoring in business marketing. Enjoys spending quality time with loved ones. Her favorite foods are anything her mom makes and tacos. Lists winning the Moore League championship three times in her four years in high school as her most exciting experience in sports. Notes she is the oldest of four with younger siblings Jt, Syd and Shea.
