Golden Eagles Fall On Road At Cal State Stanislaus

TURLOCK -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team came up short in a road match for the second straight day.

The Golden Eagles were swept in the three doubles contests and lost to Cal State Stanislaus, 7-2, Sunday in Turlock. Cal State L.A. (5-11) picked up just two points in singles and was unable to rally for the victory.

Larn McShane and Jillian Sangria earned the only points of the match for the Golden Eagles, who lost to the Warriors for the second time this season. McShane was impressive at No. 2 singles, sweeping past Vanesa Reibstein, 6-1, 6-2, while Sangria won for the 12th time in her last 13 matches with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles over Erin McGurty.

Cal State L.A.'s Christie Lau dropped a hard-fought match at No. 1 singles in a super tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, (10-7) to Verena Preikschas. Lau and McShane also lost at No. 1 doubles to Preikschas and Katie Eng, 8-4.

Cal State L.A. will return to action on Thursday with an afternoon home match against Vanguard.
