TURLOCK -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Saturday in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match.

The Golden Eagles lost leads in two of the three doubles contests, wound up getting swept and never recovering in a 7-2 loss to Cal State Stanislaus Saturday in Turlock. Cal State L.A. (7-7, 2-4 CCAA) also dropped a three-set match in singles so the match was closer than the final score would indicate. Cal State Stanislaus (5-4, 5-1 CCAA) maintains its hold on second place in the conference.

Cal State L.A. got wins at No. 1 singles and No. 3 singles from Dora Kiss and Jillian Sangria. Kiss upended Verena Preikschas in the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 7-5, while Sangria beat Katie Eng, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.

Lana Lamesic had a close call at No. 4 singles, falling to Arina Polovnikova, 6-4, 2-6, (10-4).

The Golden Eagles battled in the doubles despite losing all three matches. Sangria and Adriana Espinosa dropped a hard-fought 8-6 decision at No. 2 doubles to Vanesa Reibstein and Brianna McClintock, while Marine Prevost and Lana Lamesic fell at No. 3 doubles to Polovnikova and Cotter, 8-5.

Cal State L.A., which was playing its sixth match in seven days, finished with a 3-3 record over that stretch. The Golden Eagles will return to action on April 7 at Cal State San Bernardino.
