WAIPAHU, HI – Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team finished its four-match trip to Hawaii on a positive note.
The Golden Eagles took the lead with two wins in three doubles contests and then won five of the six singles matches to post a 7-2 win over Chaminade Wednesday at the Central Oahu Regional Park.
Cal State L.A. (6-6), after opening the trip with losses at the top two teams in the NCAA Division II West Region, finished it with wins over Hawaii-Hilo and Chaminade (7-7).
Dora Kiss won her match at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3, over Chaminade's Yuka Kindo.
Jillian Sangria was flawless at No. 3 singles, beating Natalie Phanphengdy, 6-0, 6-0;
Lana Lamesic prevailed at No. 4 singles, 7-6, 6-1;
Marine Prevost outlasted Silkie Kawahakui, 7-5, 5-7, (10-8) at No. 5 singles and
Adriana Espinosa won at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-0, over Karen Chaussoy.
Linda Majzlikova lost a tough match at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 6-0, (10-8) to Tiffany DeVincent.
The Golden Eagles got wins in doubles from Sangria and Espinosa at the No. 2 position, 8-2, and from Prevost and Lamesic at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Friday with a California Collegiate Athletic Association match at Sonoma State.
