HONOLULU -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team picked up its first win in its four-day trip to Hawaii.
The Golden Eagles rallied by winning five of the six singles contests to post a 6-3 victory over Hawaii-Hilo Tuesday in Honolulu. Cal State L.A. (5-6) had opened its trip with losses to the top two ranked teams in the West Region, Hawaii Pacific and BYU-Hawaii.
Cal State L.A. started slowly on Tuesday, but stormed back with a strong performance in the singles.
Dora Kiss had the most dramatic win, rallying for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Christie Pagapatan at the No. 1 position.
Jillian Sangria won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4, over Anna Hamlin;
Lana Lamesic won at No. 4 singles, Jenna DeCleene, 6-2, 6-0;
Marine Prevost beat Madison Wells, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5 singles and
Adriana Espinosa beat Kaylene Peric, 6-0, 6-0.
The lone doubles points for the Golden Eagles came at the No. 3 spot where Prevost and Lamesic prevailed, 8-1.
Cal State L.A. will conclude its trip with a match at Chaminade on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
