The Golden Eagles ran up against BYU-Hawaii, the top-ranked team in the West Region, and dropped a 9-0 decision Monday in Laie, HI. Cal State L.A. (4-6) dropped its second straight match on its four-match swing through Hawaii. The Golden Eagles have lost to the top-two teams in the West Region to open the trip. Cal State L.A. lost to Hawaii Pacific, ranked 12^th in the country and second in the region on Sunday and to BYU-Hawaii, ranked third in the country and first in the region on Monday.

 

Dora Kiss overcame a slow start at No. 1 singles and battled Juan Jia, the No. 3 singles player in the country in a 6-0, 6-4 loss. Linda Majzlikova did likewise at No. 2 singles against Elwen Li, the No. 2 singles player in the nation, in a 6-0, 6-2 loss.

 

Jillian Sangria, who won her match against Hawaii Pacific, lost to Ayako Ikeda at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2.

 

Kiss and Sangria lost at No. 1 doubles to Li and Jia, the No. 1-ranked team in the country, 8-1.

 

Cal State L.A. will return to action on Tuesday with a match against Hawaii-Hilo.
