Golden Eagles Have Win Streak Snapped By Hawaii Pacific

WAIPAHU, HI – Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak snapped by one of the nation's top NCAA Division II teams.
 
The Golden Eagles faced No. 12 Hawaii Pacific in their first of four matches in Hawaii on Sunday and fell, 8-1, to the Sea Warriors. Cal State L.A. (4-5) will also face No. 3 BYU-Hawaii on Monday before ending the trip with contests against Hawaii-Hilo on Tuesday and Chaminade on Wednesday.
 
Cal State L.A. picked up its only point at No. 3 singles when Jillian Sangria, after winning a tightly-contested first set, 7-5, got the victory when opponent Ingrid Cseh retired.
 
Dora Kiss had a competitive match at No. 1 singles before losing to Zora Vlckova, 6-4, 6-2. Vlckova is ranked 12th in the nation.
 
Linda Majzlikova also faced a nationally-ranked opponent at No. 2 singles and lost to No. 34 Nina Mihova, 6-4, 6-0.
 
Kiss and Sangria teamed up at No. 1 doubles and lost to the 13th-ranked pair in the nation, 8-4.
 
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Monday with a match at No. 3 BYU-Hawaii.
