Box Score

SEASIDE – Cal State L.A.'s women's soccer team rebounded nicely from its first defeat of the season.

The No. 23 Golden Eagles posted their sixth shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay Friday at the Otter Soccer Complex. Cal State L.A. (6-1, 3-1 CCAA) got a pair of goals from Alex Conley and one from Stacey Rodwell and a stout defensive effort that permitted only two Cal State Monterey Bay shots.

Cal State L.A., which was coming off its first loss of the season, a 2-1 setback to Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, has now outscored its opponents, 24-2.

Cal State L.A. enjoyed a 13-2 edge in shots over Cal State Monterey Bay (2-4, 1-3 CCAA). The Otters got six saves from goalie Andrea Davis. Cal State L.A. goalie Jessie Walworth made one save for the shutout.

The Golden Eagles had a 5-1 edge in shots in the first half and an 8-1 advantage in the second half.

Cal State L.A. opened the scoring when Conley scored her first goal of the game in the 12th minute. She received a pass from Liz Franco and rifled a shot into the net from the right side of the field. Conley hit the post with a shot in the 22nd minute and the Golden Eagles, despite controlling play, held only a 1-0 lead at halftime.

That changed less than four minutes into the second half when Conley scored her second goal of the game with another assist from Franco. Her shot hit the upper middle of the net, just under the crossbar. The goal was Conley's team-leading seventh of the season and Franco was credited with her team-best eighth assist of the season.

Walworth made her only save of the match in the 69th minute when she stopped a bid from Cal State Monterey Bay's Korie Soares.

The Golden Eagles added the final goal of the game in the final minute of play. Stacey Rodwell notched her first goal of the season with an assist from Jennifer Schafer. It was the first assist and first appearance of the season for Schafer, who missed all of the 2008 season and the first six games of the 2009 campaign because of injury.

Cal State L.A. will return to action on Sunday with a match at San Francisco State.
