Summary

Biography

2008: Enjoyed a sensational second year with the Golden Eagles. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Set a Cal State L.A. single-season assist record with nine. Is already tied for third on the all-time career list for assists. Led the team in scoring with four goals and nine assists and 17 total points. That total is the ninth-best single-season total in the program’s history. Was tremendous down the stretch for the Golden Eagles, accumulating eight points with two goals and four assists in the final four games of the season. Had one goal and two assists in a 3-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 24. Assisted on both goals in a 2-1 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 26 and added a goal in a 5-2 loss at Seattle Pacific on Nov. 1. Had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at Humboldt State on Sept. 26 and picked up two assists in a 4-1 win over Chico State on Oct. 3. Started all 19 games for the Golden Eagles. Was named the team’s Attacking Player of the Year.
 
2007: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 22 games and started six times. Scored one goal and had four assists for a total of six points. After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtime periods, had the deciding penalty kick to lift Cal State L.A. past Seattle University and into the NCAA Division II Far West Regional championship match. Picked up the game-winning goal in double overtime of a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon on Oct. 7. Had two assists in her Cal State L.A. debut against Saint Martin’s on Aug. 23. Also had an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 19 and also assisted on the lone goal at Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 29. 
 
At El Camino High School: Was a four-year varsity player. Earned first-team All-Avocado League honors as a junior and senior and second-team honors as a freshman and sophomore. Was the team Most Valuable Player as a senior, the Best Offensive Player as a junior and received the Coaches’ Award as a sophomore and freshman. Also played varsity tennis for three years. Earned student-athlete honors award as a senior.

Personal: Daughter of Juan Sanchez and Rosa Franco. Majoring in history and philosophy. Enjoys Sudoku, watching Jeopardy, tennis, batting cages, video games, the beach, traveling, eating, sleeping and collecting movie tickets. Club team won a state championship in 2006, was a State Cup finalist in 2007 and a National Cup finalist in 2008. Lists the competition and the traveling as her most exciting experiences in sports. Wants to go to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
