The Golden Eagles, though, evened things up with a strong performance in the second set. After Cal State Stanislaus sliced a 12-8 deficit to 12-10, the Golden Eagles scored six straight points to take control. Mora had back-to-back kills to start the run that also included a service ace by Cizova and a kill by De La Rosa. The Golden Eagles got to set point at 24-14 after an attack error and closed out the set on a service error.

Cal State L.A. jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the third set and were never threatened. The Warriors got to within 14-10, but kills by Bulawczyk and Mora and an attack error made it 17-10 and Cal State L.A. led comfortably the rest of the way. A kill by Cizova got the Golden Eagles to set point at 24-13 and a kill by Hamilton completed the set.

The Warriors put up a good battle in the fourth set, but the Golden Eagles pulled away down the stretch. Cal State Stanislaus was tied as late as 19-19, but Cal State L.A. scored the next three points on a bad set, a kill by Mora and a block by Mora and De La Rosa made it 22-19. Kills by Bulawczyk and De La Rosa got the Golden Eagles to match point and a Bulawczyk kill ended the contest.
