Biography

2012: Had a record-breaking season to conclude a sensational four-year career at Cal State LA. Earned second-team AVCA All-America honors and first-team All-West Region honors. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a third straight season and set a new conference record with 149 block assists. Appeared in 29 matches and 113 sets. Led the team with 348 kills, 56 aces, 164 blocks and 493.5 points. Also had 75 digs and six assists. Had a season-high 19 kills and a career-high 16 blocks against Sonoma State on Sept. 29. Also had 19 kills against Stanislaus State on Oct. 12 and Chico State on Nov. 16. Reached double figures in kills 22 times and double figures in blocks four times. Had a career-high five aces against Humboldt State on Nov. 9. For her career, appeared in 114 matches and 436 sets. Set new program records with 501 blocks and 427 block assists. Also finished her career with 1,104 kills, 90 service aces and 1,481.5 points.
 
2011: Had another tremendous season for the Golden Eagles and earned AVCA All-America honorable mention. Also earned first-team All-West Region honors from the AVCA and received All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a second straight year. Continued to climb Cal State L.A.’s career charts and enters her senior season No. 2 all-time in total blocks (337) and No. 2 in block assists (278). Led the team in points with 342 for a second straight season and led in total blocks with 115 for a third straight season. Was also second on the team in service aces with 26 and second in kills with 247. Was named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player. Recorded a career-high 28 kills and had a hitting percentage of .765 in a four-set win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 14. Was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 10-16 after posting 45 kills and 13 blocks in eight sets. Had double-digit kills in 10 matches. Had a season-high eight blocks in a match against Western Washington on Sept. 2 and a season-high four service aces at California Baptist on Sept. 14. Earned All-Tournament honors at Cal State San Bernardino’s Coyote Labor Day Classic.
 
2010: Had a sensational sophomore season and earned first-team All-CCAA honors. Also received AVCA All-West Region honorable mention. Led the team with 110 blocks and her 1.06 blocks per set placed her second in the conference. Led the team in points with 343.5 and was third on the team in kills with 270. Reached double figures in kills 13 times. Had a season-high 22 kills with a hitting percentage of .576 against San Francisco State on Oct. 29. Had a season-high 10 blocks against Sonoma State on Oct. 9. Was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 1-7 after recording 33 kills, 12 blocks and recording a hitting percentage of .508 in matches against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State East Bay and UC San Diego.
 
2009: Was one of the top freshmen in the CCAA and earned second-team All-CCAA honors. Was named the program’s Most Improved Player. Led the Golden Eagles in total blocks with 112 and block assists with 97. Also had 239 kills, which was third on the team. Recorded a season-high 14 kills against Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 6 and had a season-high 10 blocks at UC San Diego on Oct. 23. Had 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .722 against Humboldt State on Oct. 17 and had 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .600 against Cal State Stanislaus on Nov. 11. Reached double figures in kills six times.
 
At Etiwanda High School: Earned first-team All-League honors in 2006 and 2007 and second-team honors in 2008. Was a three-time team Most Valuable Player from 2006-08 and the team’s Best Offensive Player in 2008.
 
Personal: Daughter of Jalanda Darden. Majoring in Political Science. Enjoys watching the Daily Show and Colbert Report, dancing, going to the beach, playing dominos with friends, playing beach volleyball and not running. Lists playing for a West Region championship during her freshman season as her most exciting experience in sports.
