Summary

Biography

2011: Had a second tremendous season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors in four events after placing third in the 200 meters, 400, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. Earned two All-West Region awards in the 200 and as part of the 4x100 relay team. Had best times of 10.82 in the 100, 21.53 in the 200, 48.98 in the 400 and 2:11.28 in the 800. For his career, finished with two CCAA championships and seven All-Conference awards. Had best marks of 10.57 in the 100, 21.13 in the 200, 47.01 in the 400 and 2:11.28 in the 800. Finished his career No. 7 all-time at Cal State L.A. in the 400.

2010: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. Was named the CCAA Newcomer of the Year. Won two CCAA championships. Captured the 400 meters with a time of 47.01 and was part of the winning 4x100 relay team in the 400 meters. Earned All-America honors as part of the 4x100 relay team that finished third in the nation. Received a third All-CCAA award as part of the 4x400 relay team that finished third in the conference. Has best times of 10.57 in the 100, 21.13 in the 200 and 47.01 in the 400. Recorded NCAA provisional qualifying marks in all three events. Finished 10th in the country in the 400 and 18th in the 200.

At Pasadena City College: Was the Most Improved on the squad. Won state championships in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Team also won the state title. Had best marks of 10.60 in the 100, 21.3 in the 200 and 47.2 in the 400. Also ran for one year at Long Beach City College and was part of a 4x100 relay team that won a Southern California championship.

At Long Beach Cabrillo High School: Set school records in the 100, 200, 400, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. Competed in basketball, football and track and field.

Personal: Son of Sergio Sandoval and Sharon McGiffert. Majoring in social work. Enjoys cars and sports. Lists winning the state championship while at Pasadena as his most exciting experience in sports.
