2013: Had another strong season for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Appeared in 13 games. Played a total of 247 minutes. Had one goal and two points. Scored the second goal in a 3-0 win over Azusa Pacific in the season opener on Sept. 5. Played a season-high 31 minutes in an NCAA playoff game against Simon Fraser on Nov. 31. For his career, appeared in 26 games and started three times. Played a total of 646 minutes. Had three goals and six points.
2012: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 13 games and started three times. Played a total of 399 minutes. Had two goals and a total of four points. Scored the first goal of his Cal State L.A. career when he opened the scoring in a 2-1 win over Northwest Nazarene on Sept. 1. Also had the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute of a 2-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 23. Earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic Award.
At Santana High School: Competed in soccer and track and field in high school. Earned first-team All-League honors all four years in soccer and was the MVP of the league as a senior. Was a four-year varsity starter and a three-time Offensive Most Valuable Player. Was on the school’s Honor Roll all four years and earned league All-Academic honors in both soccer and track and field.
Personal: Son of Mario and Cori Perez. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys guitar and bikes. Lists winning a national cup championship in 2012 and playing for the ODP West Region champions and national finalists as his most exciting experiences in sports.
