Cal State LA Athletics

2013: Received playing time for the Golden Eagles in his second and final season with the program. Made one save and allowed one goal over 16 minutes in a 6-1 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 6. For his career, appeared in two games and played a total of 61 minutes. Made two saves and allowed two goals. Had a goals against average of 2.93 and a saves percentage of .500.

2012: Made his Cal State L.A. debut and played the entire second half of the Golden Eagles’ first-round CCAA Championship Tournament game against Cal State Stanislaus on Nov. 2. Made one save and allowed one goal. Earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic Award.

At Fresno City College: Was on a team that captured the Central Valley Conference championship and was named the conference’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

At San Joaquin Memorial High School: Competed for four years on the varsity teams in soccer and track and field. Earned first-team All-League honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Named the All-Central Section Goalkeeper of the Year as a junior and senior. Team was the Central Section Division II champions.

Personal: Son of Joe and Monica Alvarez. Majoring in business administration. Enjoys soccer, yoga, cycling and surfing. Lists winning the Central Section Division II title in his junior year of high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
