Cal State LA Athletics

2025: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 17 games with 17 starts and played a total of 1,071 minutes. Led the team in scoring with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Earned second-team All-America honors from the United Soccer Coaches. Also earned first-team All-West Region honors from the same organization. Earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Made his Cal State LA debut and played 47 minutes in a 2-0 win over Fresno Pacific on Sept. 4. Picked up his first point with the Golden Eagles with an assist on Andreas Christou’s goal in a 2-2 tie at Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 19. Scored his first goal, the game-winner in the 73^rd minute of a 2-1 win at UC Merced on Oct. 3. Scored the team’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Stanislaus State on Oct. 5. Scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 87^th minute in a 1-0 win at Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 2. Scored the game-tying goal on a penalty kick in the 90^th minute to lift the Golden Eagles to a 2-2 tie at Cal State San Marcos on Nov. 6. Scored a goal in the 19^th minute to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead in NCAA Tournament game against Colorado-Colorado Springs on Nov. 21.

At California Baptist: Appeared in 10 games with five starts for the Division I Lancers in 2024. Played a total of 249 minutes.

At Mt. San Antonio College: Was a JC All-American and two-time Offensive Player of the Year for the Mounties. Was on a team that won the 2021 Junior College State championship and was a 2022 state championship finalist. Appeared in 44 games with 41 starts in two seasons. Had 25 goals and 18 assists for 68 points.

At Cathedral High School: Competed in soccer.

Personal: Son of Victor Mendez and Araceli Fernandez. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys reading books. Lists winning state at Mt. San Antonio College as his most exciting experience in sports.
